Issues

I’m running to be the next State Representative for the 44th District, which includes Sterling, Plainfield and my home, Killingly. As I look around our communities, I see that we are struggling in ways that just won’t fix themselves. That’s why I’m running. The issues that matter here aren’t about blue or red. They are simply the issues that affect our lives and our futures.

I don’t want to sound like all I see are challenges in front of us, because I don’t. I have a lot of hope. Because, while we might be “Distressed” or a health care desert, we’re also something more important. We are a community.

We love these towns. We love the woods and the ponds. We love the quiet roads. We love that this place feels like home, a home we are so proud of. Loving something means protecting it, it means advocating for it in the halls of government, where decision makers often forget about the quiet corners. No more status quo.

I will listen to you and I will be your advocate - together we will protect what we love. I will go to Hartford and remind them that open space is a gift, not an invitation for industry that doesn't serve us. I will remind them that we are not disposable. That we are resilient. That WE ARE PAYING ATTENTION

Affording the Good Life

Everybody seems to be having a hard time getting by right now, but in our communities of Killingly, Sterling, and Plainfield, this is an issue that really hits home.

I believe that a good life should be within reach for all of us. As your next State Representative, I will offer thoughtful solutions for lowering the cost of healthcare, energy bills, and even our groceries – these are the primary drivers and many of our household budgets, and they keep getting more expensive.

Access to Healthcare

The 44th District is a healthcare desert, plain and simple. To get the care we need, many of us have to take time off work, absorb the cost of travel, and rely on friends or family for help. This is after we’ve paid for insurance coverage that frankly doesn’t cover much. This just isn’t right. I will work towards state policies that lower the cost of coverage for everybody as well as legislation that tackles the problem of accessibility using creative solutions for facilities as well as physician recruitment and retention.

Protecting Our Communities and Open Spaces

We live in a beautiful place and we cherish our communities, but, unfortunately, outsiders see our open spaces as an opportunity to be taken advantage of. We need businesses that bring real jobs, that make our lives better. What we are being offered is warehouse development and solid waste processing.

This isn’t who we are. We know that our open spaces are a gift. As your next State Representative, I will defend our open spaces and protect our way of life.
